Although the manufacturer has done a great job in building and covering the all-balsa airframe, final assembly requires an intermediate-level of modeling experience. An experienced modeler could see easier or better ways of completing the assembly than what is described in the instructions.

An ideal motor for the Gee Bee Y is the inexpensive Torque 2830/1095 which produces 277W from a 3S LiPo and a 10x4.7SF prop. Add your radio and four precise servos such as the Hitec HS-56 or HS-65 and the Gee Bee Y will be ready to show you what a real Golden Oldie can do in the air. Great looks combined with unique design features such as the spring-loaded shock absorbing landing gear makes the Gee Bee Y special and different than anything else at your favorite flying site.
