Messerschmitt ME 163 ARF

Overview:
The Messerschmitt ME 163 was the only operational rocket powered military aircraft ever built. It was capable of going over 600 miles per hour during testing. A few hundred were ever built and did not make much of an impact on the war accounting for only nine kills of Allied aircraft.

This model is built light but strong. This is made of strong but light fiberglass with built up plug in two piece wings for easy transportation. The canopy is easily removed for access to the radio compartment and batteries.

This is sure to be a head turner at the flying field. The kit is for expert pilots only.

Since the real ME 163 was rocket powered, it is possible put an Estes rocket motor in the tail of this model. You'll needed a 9V battery source to ignite the rocket and a servo to switch on the 9V in flight. It looks great making a level pass over the runway and then lighting the rocket motor. It is recommended to add air cooling holes in the tail and in the cowl as shown.

What this kit includes:
The ME 163 ARF comes with all of the hardware that you need to complete the airplane. Landing gear, control horns, wheels, gas tank, and a spinner are included. Airframe is covered in Oracover. ARF comes with paper construction manual including CG and control throws.

Needed for Completion:
  • Transmitter / Receiver: You will need a 4-5 channel receiver, depending on how you power the receiver. If using a y-connector for the BEC, then you can use a 4 channel receiver. If not, use a five channel or higher receiver.
  • Servos - You will need four servos. We recommend Hitec HS-625MG.
  • Power System - This kit can run on a .40 to .60 2 stroke glow engine or you can use an electric motor. For an electric motor, you need a 1000 Watt electric motor running a 11-12 inch propeller. We recommend the Rimfire .46 (42-60-800).
  • Battery - Use a 18.5V or 22.2V V Lipo with 5000mAh. We recommend a ThunderPower TP5000-4SPP45 or TP5000-5SPP45.
  • To power the receiver and servos, you should use a separate Battery Eliminator Circuit that produces 4.8-6 Volts.
  • Servo Extensions - You will need two 6 inch extensions and one 6 inch "Y" connector.
