The majority of the model’s attractive, scale trim scheme is factory-applied in MonoKote film — including the base colors, stars, numerals and additional graphics. Decals are provided for markings not already reproduced in the covering. Four-blade prop shown not included. Conveniences such as factory-hinged ailerons, elevators and flaps help cut assembly time to as little as 15-20 hours. The stabilizer halves mount onto aluminum tubes, aligning automatically and further reducing your workshop time. Top Flite includes heavy-duty fixed landing gear. For maximum realism, optional Robart retract gear (shown but not included) can also be used. They easily bolt into place following the instructions provided in the model’s assembly manual.
Enjoy flying your giant-scale P-47D Thunderbolt with the power and economy of gasoline engines such as the 43cc Fuji-Imvac™ BT-43EI-2 shown here. Mounting options are provided for this and other popular gas engines. In addition to providing more room for scale details, the large dimensions of the P-47D Thunderbolt also allow for a spacious fuselage — including a generously sized radio compartment for effortless installation of your system’s on-board components. The cockpit kit included with the giant-scale P-47D Gold Edition ARF serves as a good starting point for detailing out as much as you like. Because the cockpit is not built-in, you can easily install a pilot figure and other scale touches — and enjoy!
Scale modelers will appreciate the many pieces included with this ARF that contribute to impressive warbird realism — for example, the painted fiberglass cowl, replica radial engine, and two-piece aluminum spinner hub seen here. Prop is ghosted for visual effect. Use the P-47D Thunderbolt’s flaps to shorten takeoff distance — or to reduce speed and decrease the distance needed for landing. The full-scale P-47D Thunderbolt’s thick airfoil and steady flying characteristics translate well to the Top Flite model, making it well-suited for fliers stepping up to giant-scale. Only moderate low-wing experience is needed.
