Want to go fast?

Buying or building acarthat can reliably hit 100 mph in under five seconds usually takes enough cash to acquire a house. TheTraxxasXO-1 can get the job done for about $1,100 — as long as you're willing to only imagine yourself in the seat.

Calling it the first “ready to race supercar,” the XO-1 is a one-seventhscale radio controlspeed racer. Having built smaller, high-end radio controlled racers for super cross competitions,Traxxassays it wanted to offer a one-box speed runner and put hobbyists on track faster than if they assembled all the components on their own. The run to 60 mph takes 2.3 seconds, or a few ticks faster than the newest Nissan GT-R. (Serious R/C racers have already pushed the world speed record for miniature cars to 161 mph.)

Even at one-seventh scale, getting to 100 mph faster than you can read this sentence requires considerable engineering skill. The XO-1 uses high-tech driveshafts to put power from its lithium-ion batteries to mini tires rated for top speed. Thecarwon’t reach its full potential without a iPhone app, which integrates with thecar’s trigger controller.

Traxxas warns upfront that the XO-1 “is not a toy and is intended for use by experts only,” waiving off those who might consider it a stocking stuffer. Just don’t try to outrun it at a stoplight.

The NEW Slash 4WD is here! (see the movies)

The Traxxas Slash 4X4. It’s everything you expect from a Slash; tough, fast, fun—and 4-wheel drive! Slash 4X4 is built for versatile, exciting RC fun on and off the track with an all-new rigid chassis, super-efficient shaft drive, and Velineon brushless power for speeds over 60 mph.

Slash 4X4’s innovative design is like no other, and offers a combination of long-travel suspension, high ground clearance and a modern, ultra-efficient 4-wheel-drive system for the traction needed to exploit the massive brushless horsepower. Just three gear meshes and a lightweight aluminum tube driveshaft are used to transfer power to all four wheels.

Optimized placement of the components in the chassis yields perfect side-to-side and front-to-rear weight bias. The Slash 4x4 continues Slash's legendary toughness and simplicity of operation. The modular design provides easy access to the running gear. A TQ 2.4GHz radio system offers switch-on-and-drive convenience, and waterproof electronics keep the 4WD fun rolling in water, mud, and snow.
