Thursday, February 28, 2013Update on Phantom
After a long delay where our container was held hostage in US customs for a detailed inspection. We have now received credible tracking that our large Phantom shipment is out of customs and in route to the atlanta Hobby warehouse. We will start to package all backorders late this weekend with all orders being fully caught up by Monday morning. If you have a Phantom backorder watch for your UPS tracking # to come live over the next 2 days but remember the actual shipments will not move until Monday.

Thursday, February 16, 2012Coming Soon: Era Of UAS?
The new FAA reauthorization bill that was signed into law this week by President Obama (PDF) creates a fast track for the integration of civil unmanned aircraft systems into the national airspace. The legislation states that the FAA and the UAS industry must work together to develop a "comprehensive plan" by mid-November that will safely achieve the full integration of UAS by Sept. 30, 2015. Deadlines for certain smaller systems are set even sooner. For example, first responders will be allowed to fly small UAS weighing 4.4 pounds or less within 90 days. And within six months, the FAA must designate six test ranges where the UAS can fly to develop their sense-and-avoid capabilities.

Tuesday, October 13, 2009Martin Jet pack up for auction
At last year's AirVenture in Oshkosh, the Martin Jetpack was easily the most anticipated and hyped product. But the sort-of jetpack only sort of flew, with spotters keeping a close eye on it. The jet pack is a personal flight vehicle powered by a single engine driving twin ducted fans. Martin has shown the vehicle will fly without external assistance in this latest video and I post it here for my readers to see.

Wednesday, October 07, 2009MapleFlopter (Top Secret)
I wanted you to get a look at a top secret project an acquaintance is building. Ever seen a maple seed fall from a tree and spin around like a one blade helicopter? Get a look at the Maple Flopter which is nearing completion. I will post more details soon but the engineering behind this project is no joke and uses sophisticated electronics like a earth’s magnetic field sensing cyclic pitch control.
