LAS VEGAS, NV; July 28, 2011 – Thunder Power RC Generation 6 Chemistry Pro Power 65C Series batteries were the power behind the 1st and 3rd Place 2011 3D Masters wins thanks to the amazing talent and skill of team pilots Jamie Robertson and Nick Maxwell. The 2011 3D Masters win marks the second consecutive win for Thunder Power RC with the 2010 Masters win at the hands of Nick Maxwell. 3D Masters is known in the RC Helicopter competitive arena as the World’s 3D Competition and is where the best of the best compete. The 2011 event was held July 22 – 24 in Venlo, Netherlands and was hosted by the Jupiter Flying Club. Twenty-seven top pilots competed in the Masters Class of competition to take home the championship title of 2011 3D Master.
The 3D Masters events truly push and test all piloting skills and ability to the extreme. The 3 day event had pilots competing in the areas of set maneuvers, flight to music and freestyle. During the set maneuvers segment of the competition, pilots fly 8 maneuvers from a selection of 40 maneuvers rated in difficulty of ‘k’ factors from K1 to K3 and known to vary as hard- to –very, very hard to master. The flight to music gives the pilot the chance to entertain, fascinate and exhibit their artistic skills and ability while choreographed to their favorite music selection. The freestyle event gives each pilot three minutes to impress the judges and spectators with all-out flying to push the limits of their skills, machines and equipment. By winning 3D Masters, Jamie Robertson has truly earned the accolades by putting his piloting skills to the brink and back through the rigorous rounds of competition. Jamie also took home trophies for the Best Flight to Music, Best Electric Helicopter and Best Flybarless Machine!
Team Thunder Power RC is represented by some of the most talented pilots in the RC industry. Just seven weeks ago Robertson and Maxwell shared the podium at the Extreme Flight Championships (XFC), where Robertson won the Championship and Maxwell brought home the 2nd place win. Now with placing 1st and 3rd at 3D Masters, these two pilots are a force to be reckoned with in the RC helicopter competitive flight scene. Both pilots have achieved major helicopter title wins as the XFC Champion and 3D Master as well as many other career victories. Jamie Robertson now has two XFC Championships and a 3D Masters title to his name while winning both the 3D Masters and XFC back-to-back for 2011 in just a matter of 7 weeks!
