February E-Flight Specials
Winter E-flight Savings (Early February 2003)
Greetings!
Welcome to Winter 2004!
I know that it has been a long while since my last newsletter, before
Christmas as I remember, so I apologize for the delay and will jump right
in with a lot of information about many new toys.
I know many of you have been enjoying the new Zagi XS as I have
shipped a ton of them! It is the replacement for the famous but now discontinued
400X. The XS is all EPP (about time) and has a thinner almost symmetrical
airfoil making it a real power on airplane and not just a glider with
a motor on it. It also has a new 5 spar combo to assure no flap even at
brushless speeds. All of the servo and spar bays are cut in at the factory
making construction easy and it has an entirely new canopy system that
is inside the wing but done better than others. 55MPH on the flat with
the stock Pusher Speed 400 motor.
I am now stocking the full line of new AXI External Rotor Brushless
Motors. The AXI line is great for applications starting at Speed 300
all the way up to 90 size Glow planes up to 16 pounds and 30 cells! These
motors have so much torque with their external rotors that there is no
need for a gearbox. You heard me correctly No Gearbox needed and prop
sizes up to 18.5 on the larger versions. Check these new motors out, they
can be mounted behind a firewall or, with the addition of the Radial Mounting
Set, they can be mounted in front of a firewall, particularly useful in
some glow-to-electric conversions. I have made a large commitment and
will do my best to keep them in stock for you.
Speaking of big engines, there is a lot going on with Glow plane to
Electric conversions. I have started stocking the 60 size Hanger9
Corsair and the 40 size Funtana S and have been reading the threads on
both the Ezone and RC Universe where Atlantahobby is a sponsor. These look to
be really nice planes to convert from Glow to electric.
Coming mid February is a first in RC ESC Technology! The Castle Creations
"Phoenix Link" allows users to connect their Phoenix brushless
speed controllers to the USB port on their Windows based PC and set up
the programmable features with point and click ease. No more throttle
stick controller programming or returns to the factory for software updates.
See it below.
Helicopters now in stock. I had been looking for a high quality Helicopter
and found it in the Lite Machines Corona. This thing is unbelievable
and the kits start at only $189. All you need is a standard 4 channel
radio too and with the addition of a Futaba 240 Gyro there is not the
big learning curve that is required in most other Helis. This thing is
so strong the demo tape shows the pilot flying it up to a tree and then
right into it with no damage done. Also look at the Astro Flight 020
built just for the Corona. Check them out at the link below.
Next weekend Feb. 4-8, Atlanta will be hosting the Air Sports Expo.
This event will feature the best of the best in the full size Sailplane,
Hang Gliders, Ultralights, Paragliders and more. It is a not to miss event
if you are anywhere near the Atlanta area. Atlanta Hobby has been ask
to display at the show (a first for a hobby company) and I plane to bring
a lot of the Sailplanes I stock and a few Electric's too. As many of you
know I am a licensed Sailplane and Power pilot and am looking forward
to this event in my home town.
As a special treat Paul Naton from Radio Carbon Art, the guy that
makes the coolest of cool films about our sport, has produced a
special limited edition DVD that will be sold Exclusively by Atlanta
Hobby at the event. This DVD features footage of Manfred Radius, one of
the world's top aerobatic glider pilots. He flies his full-scale Salto
H-101 day and night airshow routines with inverted ribbon cut. Incredible!
And, the film features shots from the famous photographer Neil Lawsons,
his shots are amazing. The DVD is called; "Redline Sky" and is
based on the Going the Distance DVD with enhanced sound track. Lots of
other footage making for 2 hours of the best flying you will ever see
plus many bonus features DVDs are known for. If you want one order now
as the supply will be limited and these are on a first come first serve
basis and I know will be sold out at the show.
More news in a few weeks but as February is my slowest month and I
am feeling generous (and need to make my houes payment) enter discount
code 21004 and save 10% off any order over $100 until the 15th of February.

Corona Now in stock!

The assembly of the Corona is very straightforward and requires only simple
tools. Included in the kit is a set of allen wrenches, a small parts container
to hold loose hardware during assembly. Lite Machines provides one of
the best instruction manuals out there. The heli can be assembled in only
a few evenings. Aside from the screws and small hardware, all of the pieces
are made in the Lite Machine factory located in the good old USA. This
let's them keep a tight control on quality while maintaining an affordable
price. I was very impressed with how well the various pieces fit together
and it flies O so sweet!
