How to choose a battery charger

The right charger matches your battery type, cell count and connector, and charges at a rate that suits your packs.

What to check

• Battery types: most hobby chargers handle LiPo, Li-HV and NiMH. Check that yours lists the batteries you use.
• Cell count: choose a charger that supports your largest pack, such as 2S to 6S.
• Power and current: measured in watts and amps. Bigger packs charge faster on a more powerful charger.
• AC or DC: AC chargers plug into the wall; DC chargers need a separate power supply or a 12V source.
• Channels: multi-port chargers charge more than one pack at a time.
• Smart and iD chargers: Spektrum Smart chargers read Spektrum Smart batteries, and Traxxas EZ-Peak chargers read Traxxas iD batteries, and set the charge automatically.

Charge safely

• Always use the LiPo setting with a balance lead for LiPo packs, charge in a LiPo-safe bag or box, and never leave a charging battery unattended.
